In many ways you are correct and in some you are not. You will get a higher quality, better definition photograph. A photograph that is hand made in small quantities has a particular sense of pride and craftsmanship that has been lost in the digital world. I know that when I get a 'Classic' photograph from someone, that a lot of work went into it and that there are only a small quantity of these hand made ultimate quality photographs in existance.
