Leica Digilux 2

The Terminator - Leica D2 Has Arrived!

This is a Marvelous camera.  More 'M' like than any previous digital camera offering from Leica, the first thing to strike you on the Digilux 2 is the Gorgeous Summicron Lens!

Size comparison with Leica MP - Very much on Par with the MP!

Unique Flash that can Pop Up for Instant TTL Bounce Flash!  A digital camera first from Leica!

Press the Flash button twice and the Flash moves to Standard position

Nice touches, like Spring Loaded doors that hide the controls, no more annoying flimsy rubber doors that won't snap shut!

The Largest LCD Screen ever to adorn a Digital Camera.  Extremely Bright, so bright in fact that a hood is not necessary even in strong sunlight the image is easily visible!

A magnificent Very FAST, Sharp & Contrasty Leica DC F2-2.4 Vario Summicron with Aspheric Lens Elements, internal rectangular mask, specially formulated for Digital pictures.  A Leica Perfect Hood is included to reduce contrast robbing flare.  This lens is Stunning to look at and the pure essence of Leica, worth every penny.

Analog style controls allow previous film camera users to quickly become effective with Digilux 2.  Manual or Auto Analog style Focus control (yes just twist the ring like a normal film camera lens and you can focus yourself! - extremely important feature for using large apertures - subject isolation, IE.. being able to focus on a person's eyes instead of the Autofocusing on the persons nose).  A standard aperture ring on the lens allows you to manually select the aperture just as you would on a film camera.  Makes you feel right at home..  No more pesky buttons and small hard to read LCD readouts.  No more fumbling for control you though you had, but could'nt find!

I LIKE IT!

A picture taken with the Digilux 2 by the Author Richard Oesterling on a recent trip just outside Bellingham, WA on the way to Anacortes.

Notice the nice accurate color graduations.  Zero distortion.  Excellent Contrast.

Even the Cows Smile when you take their picture with a Leica ;-)

A crushed Beer Can in a parking lot can look interesting when you have nice contrast and good macro close up capability.

Rusted Old trucks look like works of art, well maybe not - it's still a rusted old truck.

A view from the famous Chuckanut Mountain Road.  One of the most beautiful roads in the world - if your in WA state, don't miss this drive/picture oppurtunity.

A little Creativity - Azaleas in Diamond - What can you do with a Digilux 2 ?

You can see that the Leica Digilux 2 is quite capable, easy to use - especially for people used to handling film cameras and can show excellent detail and colors.  No wonder the Leica Digilus 2 won the DIMA Digital Camera shootout, even against the 8 & 9 Megapixel cameras!  Thats right the combination of lens, chip and curcuitry make a bigger difference in picture quality than raw megabytes.  Remember 3 Megapixels makes a 8x10, more megapixels either makes a larger picture or allows you to crop more.  More megapixels does not make a better print image!

A Great Digital camera has what the Digilux 2 delivers.

FUN!
