Hyperfocal Distance Chart for Leica shown in Meters
Multiply numbers by 3.2833 for feet To use, just focus at the distance according to the chart. This will give the greatest depth of field and sharpness for a given lens & aperture. For best picture quality, use the middle apertures staying away from F16 & F22. Diffraction caused by using small apertures degrades image quality more than using the maximum apertures. Diffraction effects begin to degrade image quality as the lens is stopped down to its smallest aperture. This chart was created using a circle of confusion of .025. This will render a print that looks sharp, up to 11x14, from half the distance to infinity. If you wish to use hyperfocal distances and make prints up to 16x20, multiply the numbers shown by 2. |
