  9. Leica talks about introducing the Leica R digital back at 11 Megapixel.  Snaps right on in place of the current back on R8 or R9 cameras in seconds.  Use your camera for film or digital in the blink of an eye!  Impressive but when will it be available for sale ?

  10. Leica introduces the MP Professional.  An updated/retro style Leica M6 non-TTL with viewfinder improvements, updated weather sealing and mechanics.  Stout mechanical camera for Professional use.  A new body covering ensures a sure grip.  Anti-Backlash film rewind lever.  The accessory Leicavit and Rewind Lever enhances the cameras useabilty.

  11. Leica intrduces the Leica M7TTL at the PMA show in Florida.  Similiar in appearance to the Leica M6 but adds an Electronically Controlled Shutter, DX Film Encoding, New Viewfinder Display, Flash Sync from 1/50th to 1/000 second with Metz Flash Units & SCA3502 Adapter.  If the batteries fail, the camera has two mechanical speeds at 1/60th & 1/125th second available, unlike the M6 which will work at all speeds if the batteries fail.  Thats the price you pay for the electronically controlled shutter.

  12. Leica introduces the 15mm F2.8 Super Elamrit R Asph. ROM for the Leica R8 and R Series cameras.  13 Elements, 1 Aspherical, 4 with Partial Anomolous Dispersion and 6 with Highly Refractive Glass.  A Super Fast lens that produces a 110 degree rectilinear field of view with virtually no distortion and less vignetting than the previous version F3.5.  The perfect lens for indoor Architectural use or Sweeping Landscapes.  Absolutely beautiful work of art.

  13. Leica introduces the Leica M6 Titanium TTL .72.  A limited edition Leica produced in only 1000 units worldwide.  Brown Calf Skin Leather.  Beautiful!

  14. Leica introduces the New viewfinder magnifier.  Attach this accessory to the viewfinder of  your .72 and it becomes a .85 High Mag and your .58 becomes a .72!

  15. Leica introduces the New 21-24-28mm Viewfinder!  Made from 5 elements in 5 groups, this is the new do it all finder for your wide angle lenses.  Light and compact, it is a perfect match for your M system.

  16. Leica discontinues the latest Screw Mount lenses.  The 50mm F2 Summicron, 50mm F1.4 Summilux & 35mm F2 Summicron LSM lenses are no longer being manufactured.  These lenses were made for the Japanese market, but everyone that ones a Leica screw mount camera has wanted one of these updated lens designs for use on their Leica classic (Leica IIIg-IIIf-IIIc).  Last chance for you to buy from the small remaining stock.  Prices are already escalating!

  17. Leica has announced Two new lenses for the R system.  The 21-35mm F3.4/4 and a faster 15mm.  No specifics on release date.

  18. Rumor has it that the R6.2 may be discontinued shortly,  so buy yours now before it is too late.

  19. The Herme's group (French Co. specializing in luxury goods IE: watches, leather products etc.) purchased 31.5% of Leica stock, becoming a controlling partner in Leica Camera AG.

  20. Next PMA show will showcase new models of the Leica M6.  Quote from the CEO of Leica Hanns-Peter Cohn.

  21. Leica will introduce a 15mm Superwide & 21-35mm Zoom for the Leica R8.

  22. Voigtlander to introduce two new screw mount lenses for the Leica system.  The 28mm F1.9 Ultron Aspherical & 90mm F3.5 APO Lanthar.

  23. Strictly rumor, but sources indicate that Leica may be working on a Professional Digital SLR based on the Leica R8.  No dates and this is not confirmed, but this would be great news for all of us including Leica.  Should boost sales tremendously.

  24. Leica discontinues production of the Leica 35-70 F2.8 Aspherical lens siting that the costs of production are too high and response has been low because of the high  retail price of the lens.  Time to find a used one before prices skyrocket!  This is an amazing lens, with reports of its ability to surpass the fixed Summicrons in image quality.

  25. New Leica M6 TTL .58x - Wide Angle M6!  Will have 28mm & 35mm bright frame lines in the viewfinder.  Now available.  Great for eyeglass wearers.

  26. New Leica M Motor.  Compact and quite with integral handgrip.  1.5-3 frames per second.  Also has centered tripod socket!  Will sell for approx. $200 less than the last M Motor.

  27. New Leica 28mm Summicron-M F2 Aspherical.  Latest lens to follow the 21 & 24mm aspherical.  Due out in February, 2001.

  28. 28-35-50mm Tri-Elmar-M F4 Aspherical Re-Designed.  Same optics with reworked mechanics.  They added a fingergrip to the focus ring for better differentiation.  Focal length select ring will have click stops.  Depth of field scale added for all focal lengths.  The hood has been redesigned for better viewing through the viewfinder and access to polarizer filters.

  29. Leica O Replica.  Null series replica from the early 1920's.  An instant collectors item available December 2000.  Limited to 4000 units at $2495.  Fully functional!
