Ricoh GR1 & GR1s
Shown with AA Battery to show actual size comparison If you need a small pocketable camera with an oustanding wide angle optic, this is it. Yes, I know it is not a Leica and it is not built like a Leica either. However, it produces fantastic images, is built very well and has a Leica inspired 7 Element 28mm lens. The Ricoh GR1 camera literally will fit in your pocket, it is very, very small. Ricoh also makes a GR1s that accepts a small lens hood and 30.5mm filter system. I have one of each of these cameras and all I can say is that I love them and that I wish Leica would make a camera like this to compliment the M system. It makes a good back up and also is great for 'Grab Shots'. The Ricoh GR1 & GR1s are constructed with a Cast Magnesium Alloy outer shell. They not only have exposure compensation but also allow you to manually select your F-Stops for greater control. Exposure compensation and F-Stops are controlled with two manual style knobs on the top of the camera (no digital Tom-foolery here). There is also an infinity focus lock which is real handy since you have such great depth of field with this camera. This helps eliminate auto-focus errors. Where do I get one you ask? The GR1 is discontinued and no longer available, and they are not available in the U.S. anymore, but you can get a GR1S directly from Leicagallery.com. They are $449 (GR1S) & $489 (GR1S Date) plus shipping. Click Here to A High Quailty Point & Shoot. Point & Shoot Shoot-Out - Click Here
